Michael J. Killeen of Pearl River, New York, died on November 20, 2020, surrounded by his family, at the age of 94. Michael was born on October 24, 1926, in Newcastle West, County Limerick, Ireland to Johanna Linane and Michael Killeen. The Killeen family emigrated to the United States in 1933 and settled into the Bronx, New York.
Michael enlisted in the U.S. Navy at the age of 17 and served from 1944 to 1946 during World War II. In 1951, Michael joined the NYC Police Department and retired in 1976 at the rank of Lieutenant. Michael went on to own a Carvel Store, a liquor store and drive a bus for BOCES.
Michael married Marie Daly, the love of his life, on November 5, 1960, and in 1965 they moved to Rockland County where they raised their family.
Michael enjoyed playing horseshoes and card games and, after moving to Pearl River in 1994, hanging at Gildea's Bar & Restaurant having a beer with his friends.
Michael is predeceased by his parents and his siblings, Patrick, Ed, Sean, Nora and Jeanne.
Michael is survived by his wife of 60 years, Marie Killeen, and his children Michael Killeen (Heidi), Teresa Kenny (Larry), JoAnn Hodges (Tim) and Marie Walmsely (Neil), his 7 grandchildren Kristen, Caitlin, Taylor, Brendan, Liam, Kerry and Grace, and his beloved dog Duffy.
