Obituary of Benjamin A. Riccardi
Benjamin A. Riccardi passed away peacefully in his home on Sunday morning, March 3, 2019 surrounded by his loving family. The youngest of 6 children of Italian immigrants, he was born in Newark in 1924 and was raised in Nutley, NJ.
He served in the US Armed Forces in WWII as a Staff Sergeant, was awarded a Bronze Star and Purple Heart, and remained a proud veteran his entire life. Ben graduated from Seton Hall and Columbia Universities and worked as a research chemist at Lederle Laboratories in Pearl River, NY.
He was the beloved husband of Vilma Breda Riccardi for 63 years. Together the couple enjoyed their garden in Pearl River, frequent travel, and entertaining their extensive family and large circle of friends. Those who knew Ben will cherish his extreme generosity, supreme love of family, and pride in his Italian-American heritage.
Ben is survived by his wife, Vilma, his three sons, Russell, Douglas, and Roger, his daughter-in-laws, Erica and Amanda, and his grandchildren Emma, Isabelle, Jasper, and Sawyer.
