I will always remember her mischievous smile, twinkle in her eye and especially her wit. I first got to know Dolores, ( Mrs. Accardi ) when I was in high school and became friends with Kate, who is like a sister to me now. One fond memory of Dolores is that she sewed brown culottes for me during my junior year. I was totally surprised by this gift .
I was so touched by her kindness that I still can picture those culottes now. And that was a long time ago!. She made Kate a similar pair and people used to think we were sisters. Mrs. Accardi will be missed by so many. She surely was a special person.
So glad I got to know Dolores and call her my friend which occurred mostly after her daughter Kate moved to California. I'll always remember how youthful Dolores sounded on the phone and in person. There was something of both a joyful child and wise older woman about her. I loved hearing her recount stories about her younger years living in Brooklyn and about Kate as a small child. Her steadfast religious faith touched me. She truly loved her family and friends and I count it as a blessing in my life to have shared her friendship.
