Obituary of Karen Engellenner
On November 9, 2019, Karen Lee Engellenner passed away peacefully in her sleep at the age of 59. She was born August 10, 1960 to parents William and Patricia Engellenner, and grew up in the town of Pearl River, New York.
Karen was bright and strong-minded, building a successful career for herself after graduating from SUNY Oneonta with honors. She did her work, and most things, with passion— a noticeable force of nature when she put her mind to something.
Generous and compassionate, Karen would have given anything for the people she cared for. She created a home where friends felt home too.
As an extremely loving mom, Karen raised her twin girls, Jenna and Chelsea, to believe they could achieve anything. She loved them very deeply, and “carried their hearts in her heart.”
She is also survived by her mother Patricia Engellenner, brother William Engellenner and his wife Kaylee, sister Dana Maher and her husband Denis, as well as nieces and nephews Brett, Conor, Kelsey, Gavin, Maggie, and William, all of whom she loved very much.
Family and friends are kindly invited to visit Assumma-Shankey Funeral Home 34 N. Summit Street, Pearl River, New York 10965 between 2-4pm and 7-9pm Thursday, November 14th. A Funeral mass will follow on Friday November 15th at 10am, at St. Margaret's Church, in Pearl River.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Charles Hospital Foundation in Port Jefferson, New York
