Vilma Riccardi

Obituary of Vilma A. Riccardi

Vilma Breda Riccardi passed away peacefully in her home

on Sunday afternoon, November 24, 2019 surrounded by

her loving family. The youngest of 3 children of Italian

immigrants, she was born in Brewster, NY in 1931 and lived

most of her adult life in Pearl River, NY, where she was a

parishioner of Saint Margaret’s Church for over 80 years.

Vilma graduated from Saint Cecilia Academy in Tappan, NY

and worked at Rockland State Hospital until the birth of her

first child. From the 1970’s through retirement she managed

the showroom for John M. Hartel Plumbing in Pearl River.

In 1955, Vilma married her beloved husband Ben, who

passed away in March of 2019. Throughout their 63 years of

marriage, they enjoyed traveling, including over 20 trips to

Italy, entertaining their extensive family and friends, and

maintaining their cherished garden.

Vilma was an active member of many local organizations

where she cultivated a large circle of friends, many of whom

were dedicated supporters during her valiant four-year battle

with pancreatic cancer.

Those who knew Vilma will remember her love of life, her

boundless energy, supreme love of family, and pride in her

Italian-American heritage.

Vilma is survived by her three sons, Russell, Douglas, and

Roger, her daughter-in-laws, Erica and Amanda, and her

grandchildren Emma (Paul), Isabelle, Jasper, and Sawyer.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of

Rockland in her name —
