Obituary of Sheila Heslin
Sheila Heslin, (nee Healy), 89, was called home to God on December 6, 2020.
Born on May 14, 1931 in Carhan, Caherciveen, County Kerry, Ireland, to William and Nora Healy, she emigrated to New York in 1948. There she met her husband Peter, they married September 15, 1956 and raised three children in Highbridge, Bronx and Flushing, Queens before relocating to Cornwallville, NY. In 2010, she settled in Rockland County to be closer to family. She loved spending a night out dancing with her husband Peter and spending time with friends, and family accompanied by a well made gin and tonic. A devout Catholic, she spent many years volunteering at Our Lady of Knock Shrine in East Durham, NY. Her jovial spirit and love for life was felt by all who knew her.
Sheila is survived by her husband, Peter; sister Eileen Musgrove; two children, Eileen Musich (Perry) and Kevin; two grandchildren, Erin (John Hatcher) and Thomas; great grandson, Emerson; brothers-in-law Fr. Dominic Heslin and Sean (Bernadette) Heslin; sister-in-law Margaret Corrigan, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
She is predeceased by her sons, Sean and Peter; brothers Jimmy (Noreen), Sean (Eileen) and Willie; and brother-in-law, Maurice Musgrove.
Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Aedan’s Church on Friday, December 11 at 11 a.m. with arrangements by the Joseph W. Sorce Funeral Home in Pearl River.
