Obituary of Frank A. Portelle

Frank A. Portelle, 51, passed away peacefully with his wife Jeanine, daughter, Valarie and his ever faithful Golden Retriever, Ruth by his side on March 13. He was born on October 10, 1969 to Joe Portelle and Maria Furci-Portelle, both pre-deceased.

Frank was a graduate of Tottenville High School in Staten Island, NY, where he grew up. He then attended City Tech where he received a degree in Culinary Arts, where his studies took him to Italy, France and Spain.

In 1996, Frank became a firefighter with the FDNY where his career began at Engine 228, Brooklyn he then went on to spend a majority of his career at Ladder 13, Manhattan and then Lieutenant and Captain of Engine 50, Bronx.

Frank is survived by his wife Jeanine of 22 years, daughter Valerie, sister Sara Nybro, brothers John Portelle and Joseph Portelle, nieces and nephews and all his brothers of companies 13/22 and 50/19

Frank had an infectious laugh and was always the life of the party. He loved good food, working in his yard, starting another home project, the first to always lend a hand, loved spending time with his family and friends. Anyone who knew him knows if he wasn't doing one of those things he could be found on the golf course, he especially loved playing with Valerie.

He gave his life in service and will be missed beyond measure by all that knew him.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, March 22 at 10am in St. Anthony's Church.

Visitation and Burial will be private for family only do to Covid Restrictions.
