Obituary of Elizabeth F. Nicholas
Elizabeth “Betty” Nicholas, 84, of West Nyack, NY, passed away peacefully on August 8, 2021. Betty was a long-time employee of MetLife Insurance in the Bulova Building in Astoria, Queens, but was most proud of her role as Mother, Nana, Sister, and Aunt.
Betty is predeceased by her husband Adam Nicholas. She is survived by her loving son Anthony Nicholas, her daughter in-law Keryn Nicholas and their 4 children, Angelina, Gianna, Anthony and Isabella Nicholas, all of whom she adored. Being Mom and Nana was her inspiration and life force. She is also survived by her beloved sisters, Marian Toner, Sally D’Alesio, Laura D’Alesio, Frances D’Alesio and Donna D’Alesio, and her loving nieces and nephews.
Her family and her faith were the foundation, center and source of her life; the things that gave her the most joy, hope, and determination to live and to love. She inspired and amazed us with her strength and resilience as she battled lymphoma. She persevered where most would have faltered, and was unwavering in her devotion to her family and religion. She will be dearly missed by all that knew her, but never forgotten.
Family will receive visitors on Wednesday, from 4-8pm at Joseph W. Sorce Funeral Home in Pearl River, NY. Mass of Catholic Burial will be held on Thursday, 10am, at St. Anthony’s Parish Church, Nanuet, followed by interment at Frederick Loescher Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Spring Valley, NY.
