Obituary of Myra Ruocco

Myra Ruocco passed away peacefully at the age of 94 in her Sparkill, NY residence on August 12, 2021.

 Myra was born on March 24,1927, in Manhattan to her parents Patrick and Mary Blaine, immigrants from Donegal, Ireland. Myra grew up in the Washington Heights neighborhood of Manhattan and graduated from Cathedral High School in 1945. She held a career for many years at Metropolitan Life Insurance. Myra met Henry “Harry” Ruocco through mutual friends, and they fell in love and wed in 1951. Harry and Myra moved to Pearl River, NY in 1960 where they raised their eight children, Kevin (Maureen), Anne Marie (William), Chris (Tina), Tom (Colleen), Peter (Eva), Jean (Ken), John (Katy), and Matthew (Julie). After raising their family, Myra and Harry spent many years traveling, visiting friends and family, hosting family gatherings at their home, and spending time with their eighteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Myra was a devoted wife to her spouse of seventy years, a loving mother to her eight children, and a beloved grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Myra is survived by her husband Harry, her eight children and their spouses, and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Myra is predeceased by her parents and siblings Dede (Buddy) Durkin and Patrick (Veronica) Blaine. Myra was a woman of strong faith, and will be remembered for her wisdom and grace, singing voice, love of her Irish heritage, and endless fond memories with her family and friends. 


Visiting hours will be held at Joseph W. Sorce Funeral Home in Pearl River, NY on Tuesday August 17, 2021 from 2-7pm. Catholic Mass will be held at Saint Margaret's Church in Pearl River, NY on Wednesday, August 18, 2021 at 10am. Burial to follow at Ascension Cemetery in Airmont, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Myra's name to Dowling Gardens in the care of Sister Ursula
